Grab brunch and a day of antiquing at the local boutiques. Another favorite pastime is exploring the architectural landmarks of the neighborhood. Head to Navy Pier for a ride on the iconic Ferris wheel, then follow it up with a city boat cruise. Another fun way to explore the city is on two wheels. Rent a Lyft bike and glide down the lakefront trails interspersed among the skyscrapers.

Your Commute

Moving about the city from River North is a literal breeze. You’re within walking distance of the Loop, West Loop, Streeterville, and Gold Coast neighborhoods, plus there are also multiple train and bus lines. There are several different train stations located in River North where you can catch the Brown and Purple Lines, which will take you to the north/far northwest side of the city and the Loop in no time. The Red Line, which extends as far north as Evanston and to the city’s southern edges, has three stops in River North. Multiple bus routes take you west to Wicker Park and east to Navy Pier. 

Landmarks 

Art and design lovers, as well as history buffs, will delight in River North’s fabulous collection of art galleries and iconic buildings like the twin corncobs at Marina City, 330 N. Wabash skyscraper by Mies van der Rohe, and the stunningly preserved Richard H. Driehaus Museum, aka Chicago’s “Marble Palace.” 

One of River North’s most famous landmarks is theMART, which is the world's largest commercial building and design center at Riverwalk Here, you’ll be able to take cooking classes at The Chopping Block or wander through the high-end interior design studios as you look to furnish your River North home. Outside, you’ll find Art on theMART, the world’s largest video projection art installation that takes over the building’s massive facade in the evenings.
